A record when compared to the three previous versions of the Symposium (2007, 2009, and 2011).
Symposium was held on Thursday, August 22nd, at the Hotel Unique in São Paulo.
Opening panel of the Symposium, discussing “Constitution and Legal Security”, had lectures by Justice of the Supreme Federal Court Luiz Fux, and by a member of the Legal Counsel of the Federal GovernmentBureau Otávio Luiz Rodrigues Junior, who was representing the Minister General Legal Counsel of the Federal GovernmentLuis Inácio Lucena Adams, who could be not be present due to a unexpected appointment.
During lunch, the journalist William Waack (TV Globo) made a presentation about the present political scenario in Brazil.
Afternoon had two panels:
First panel was about Brazil New Legal Frameworks, with lectures by Professor Humberto Theodoro Junior, who talked about the new Civil Procedures Code, Minister Luis Felipe Salomão, who talked about the new Commercial Code, and Professor Paulo Coimbra (ALAE Minas Gerais), who talked about Taxes Law: Relevant Changes and the New Accounting System. Chairman of the panel was Mr. Marcus Vinícius Furtado Coelho, President of Brazil Bar Association
Second panel on the afternoon was a talk show about Media and Judicial Decisions. Under the coordination of Mr. Márcio Chaer, editor of CONJUR, Justice Carlos Ayres Britto and the journalists Cristiana Lôbo (Globo News), Juliano Basile (Valor Econômico), and Frederico Vasconcelos (Folha de São Paulo) debated the matter.
President of ALAE José Rodríguez Vásquez said: “Once again, ALAE joined the in-house legal counsels from the major Brazilian companies for a day of high level lectures and debates. Interest raised by the 4th Symposium of ALAE is well showed by the record number of people attending, which was much higher than the already significant number of people who attended ALAE’s previous editions of its Symposium.
